‘My journey is still a work in progress’

Priyanka Sarswat, a literature student, tried out modelling while she was pursuing her post-graduation from Panjab University. Initially, it was a trial run for her which she confessed turned to a full-time career.
How did you prepare to compete in modelling pageants?
I learnt from my failures. Initially when I stepped on the ramp, I just wanted to give it a test run to know what I was capable of but with every contest, I improved and turned modelling into my profession.
Your first assignment...
The assignments I have done so far only offered me portfolio photos. I did not feel that any of them was artistically satisfying for me. I have done a song which will be released soon. I am excited about as it was sung by the legendry singer Kumar Sanu.
Your most interesting shoot so far...
It is the professional photo-shoot for Femina Miss India North Zone. It was an amazing experience.
How would you describe your journey so far?
My journey is still a work in progress. I have a long way to go as I just stepped into fashion world. It was last year that I ended up in Top 5 for a state beauty pageant, then I continued to practice by auditioning for Campus Princess and in the third attempt I got selected as one of the fbb Campus Princess finalists. It really helped me to become the state finalist of fbb Colors Femina Miss India Himachal Pradesh 2019.
Your connection with Chandigarh...
A place which taught me the meaning of actual struggle and turned me into a thinker, believer and doer. The turning point of life was during post-graduation that I owe to Chandigarh.
A designer you want to walk for?
Ritu Kumar and Masaba Gupta who are leading ladies is the fashion industry.
Your favourite style?
Being comfortable in what I am wearing is style for me. Currently, I am obsessed with ethnic wear, especially sarees with beautiful jewellery.
Your fashion tip for youngsters...
Be comfortable in what you wear and stay grounded and humble no matter what you wear and own in life.
What is your health quotient?
Staying away from negative people and eating healthy keep me going in forward direction.
What would you wear to a formal dinner?
Pencil skirt with a nice lace top.
Must-haves in your wardrobe?
Cocktail dresses, jump suits, sarees and suits.
In casuals your pick would be?
Jeans and a top for life.
Who is your favourite celebrity?
Ever since I was child, I have loved Salman Khan and tried to imitate him in acting as well as dance moves.
If not modelling, then?
Teaching or an administrative officer.
What do you aspire to be?
A person, who is capable of making small changes to change the society at the greater level.
Healthy snack you munch on...
Berries, grapes and almonds.
Daily routine...
I keep it simple. I am not an early bird and but still manage my routine pretty well.
