You will see actor Ved Thapar, of Raja and Rancho fame, playing a key role in upcoming film Sachin - The Ultimate Winner. And it is not a co-incidence that his films are aimed at youngsters.

Incidentally, this actor has also bagged a place in The Guinness World Records for maximum number of street plays that have been themed around preserve water, save jungles and Swachch Bharat, Swasth Bharat.

The actor who plays a coach in Sachin - The Ultimate Winner, that’s weaved around a cricket player who despite a grievous accident makes a comeback to the ground with support of friends and mentors, Ved Thapar has two gurus – Swami Vivekananda and Dr APJ Abdul Kalam.

“While I have duly followed Swami Vivekananda and his teachings, I had the fortune of having met Kalam who made me promise that I would work for the betterment of youth that’s fast becoming enslaved to addictions.”

Interestingly, the story for film Sachin - The Ultimate Winner germinated in City Beautiful itself. “Dweep Raj Kochhar saw an item in newspapers here in Chandigarh that students were collecting money to get prosthetic for their friend, who lost his legs in an accident and that led to this film.”

Inspired by cricket legends – Sachin Tendulkar and Yuvraj Singh – this film does not pick up from their real lives, so it isn’t a spin off of Sachin: A Billion Dreams but an inspiring story that touches on guru shishya paramapara. As many as 22 students from the city are also part of this project.

As for Ved, his next is a telly series that charts the journey of three people from Kashmir to Kanyakumari to Arunacahl Pradesh on bicycles. Reel or real, this actor with scores of serials and films and thousands of plays to his credit is giving back to society by working with underprivileged kids and training them in self defence and disaster management.

“While performing arts remain my bread and butter, I don’t feel complete till I have brought a difference in society in some significant way,” says this actor raring to go and aiming to channel the youth on the path of development.

Dweep Raj Kochhar, who has to his credit Akkad-Bakkad Bam Be Bo, will be shooting for Sachin - The Ultimate Winner in city and around from June 9.
