In a surprise turn of events, DC Universe has cancelled its streaming sci-fi series, Swamp Thing, after a single episode. The live-action drama set in swamplands of Louisiana was cancelled in less than a week after airing its pilot episode. It comes as a very shocking development given that the show received a good response from both critics and fans.

If the speculations turns out to be true, then the reason behind the cancellation could be an accounting error by the state of North Carlolina that cut the show’s tax rebate. In April, a miscommunication by the North Carolina legislature almost wiped away the state’s film budget. The show had originally requested $16.3 million from the state for a total of thirteen episodes, but then scaled back production to ten episodes.
