‘Fashion is not just about exposing’

Model Isha Sharma has been working hard to stay in her chosen field. After three years in the profession, she has taken her career to another level by doing music videos and also a Hindi film. Her latest song I Know, sung by Harnoor, is releasing today. We catch up with the fashion diva:
When did you choose modelling?
The fashion world excites me. I loved the attention that I got while performing dance numbers in family functions and school competitions. Apart from that, I use to mimic people. I think I had the passion for modelling and acting all my life.
How did you prepare to compete in modelling pageants?
The first one was just to try out and see if things work out for me, which actually did. I gave my best shot and got the applause. So, winning a title was never on my list, focus was always on self improvement and to take that walk with confidence.
Your first assignment...
My first assignment was for International Fashion Week, Goa where I walked for various designers.
You worked in advertisements as well as Punjabi videos...
I jumped at everything I was offered be it advertisement or music videos. One project leads you to another in the show biz. I have done jewellery shoots for some of the top brands of South India, print shoot add shoots with Fashion TV India, shows at Kerela, Goa, Jaipur and Chennai. In music, I worked with the labels like Jass Records, Speed Records and T-series. Punjabi videos are fun and I get to explore my acting skills. I am signed for a Hindi movie recently.
Your most interesting shoot so far...
I am doing something that I enjoy so, every shoot is interesting and I learn from every experience.
A designer you want to walk for?
For me, it is only Manish Malhotra.
How would you describe your journey so far?
My journey has been great. Ever since I participated in Miss Himachal 2016, I have never been without work. Guess, you need to be little patient and ready for any new assignment that comes your way.
If not modelling, then?
Nursing as I graduated from Nursing College.
What is your connection with Chandigarh?
I am living in Mohali and have been here ever since my career started. This city is the home ground for budding talents.
Your favourite style?
Anything which amp up my funky style. Dresses appeal to me but fusion of various traditional clothes also looks cool.
Your fashion tip for youngsters...
Wearing the right outfit as per the occasion. Fashion is not just about exposing your body.
What is your health quotient?
Staying positive and hopeful in tough situations. Mental health is also important for models.
What would you wear to a formal dinner?
A fitted shirt and trousers.
Must-haves in your wardrobe?
A black and a white tee, the little black dress and sneakers.
In casuals, your pick would be?
Denims with crop tops.
Who is your favourite celebrity?
Deepika Padukone. She is a perfect role model for people who aspire to make it big in Bollywood.
What do you aspire to be?
I aspire to be successful in a way that inspire others.
Healthy snack you munch on...
Masala dosa and idli are my go to dishes if travelling and hungry.
