Wall clocks are timeless decorative elements and are a part of every home, but did you know that something as ordinary as a wall clock can make a stunning décor statement? Their basic design and concept is so simple and versatile that it can be adapted to match any type of décor and any room of the house.
- Use it as a focal point. A large clock is a great way to add visual interest to a space that doesn’t have anything else to focus on.
- Complement a focal point. So, you already have a fireplace or something else equally as exciting? Well, guaranteed there is a clock out there that will not compete with your focal point, but rather it will complement it.
- Wall clocks can be easily integrated in any room’s décor. In the bedroom you can replace your wall art with an oversized clock hanging above the headboard. In the kitchen you can have a clock on the cabinet door or on a side wall. In the dining room an oversized wall clock would also make a beautiful decoration.
- Make sure the size of the clock is just right for the scale of the room/wall space.
- Whether your clock has a solid back (where you don’t see the paint colour behind it) or an open back (where you do see the paint colour behind it), you’ll want to pay close attention to the contrast level against your wall. A clock that is in contrast with your paint colour will capture more attention and can create a more ‘striking’ look. A clock that is low contrast with your paint colour will be more passive and subtle while still being awesome. You’ll want to pay attention to the overall style of your room, furnishings and accessories when choosing a style of clock.
- Wall clocks in vintage style look fabulous while contemporary designs add modern chic and style to the interior without making you spend much on wall decorations.
- If you want something different than the typical round style, the pendulum clocks are a great alternative for creating truly personal and luxurious room decor. These types of clocks are more traditional and always in style.
- Definitely more cost-effective than a vintage clock or a contemporary piece, decals are the best option when you want something quirky, something rustic, or simply, something functional. All you need is a clock mechanism to go in the centre of the decal, and you are good to go.
- Wall clocks also look great in patios and porches.
- Regardless of whether or not you need to know the time in more than one country, it is a great idea to create some drama with a group of clocks on a wall. These could be of the same or different sizes, of the same or different style, place them symmetrically or asymmetrically.
- For your wall clock to look great you need to consider the height at which it’s hung. On a bare wall, with no furniture below it, the centre should be approximately 60 inches from the floor. Clocks are an inexpensive way to fill a wall and make a statement all at one go! Think of them as decor and not just a way to see the time!
