Prose is a subject of intellect and poetry that of emotions but author Ripudaman Singh Roop (85), a legal luminary has the vision and expertise to catch hold of a reader’s attention, kindling their emotions as well as thoughts through both genres of literature. Driven by the desire to share his thoughts and experiences of life, Ripudaman has authored a poetry book, titled Lalgarh, and an anthology of short stories, Dil Di Agg, which were released at an impressive ceremony held under the aegis of Punjabi Lekhak Sabha at Punjab Kala Bhavan recently.
Chief Guest Sardar Bir Devinder Singh, former Deputy Speaker-Punjab, while releasing the book, said that Roop is a
progressive and committed writer, who fought for the cause of employees and was even jailed a number of times for his participation in such movements.
Ripudaman says, “I do not decide the form of literature whenever I see any social evil. My feelings may be transformed into poetry, story, novel or even an article.” This octogenarian Punjabi writer is a practicing lawyer in the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
