Post the stupendous success of PINK, actor Angad Bedi, who played a negative role in the film, made a promise to himself — positive role next! “My father told me it is your moral responsibility to do so,” opens up Angad.

So, now he is playing Arvind Vashisht, an earnest, honest and hardworking cricketer in Amazon Prime’s maiden Indian web-series Inside Edge, which is being produced by Excel Entertainment. “Real main na sahi, reel hi sahi,” laughs Angad, son of noted cricketer Bishan Singh Bedi.

Though his father is yet to see the series, Angad totally intends to make this possible. “I play a captain so honest that he has to pay a price for it.”

Web world

Web-series are something new and Angad, who has been through it all, acting, anchoring, reality shows and films, makes a strong case for them. “While I would put cinema as my priority (he will next be seen in Salman Khan-starrer Tiger Zinda Hai), web-series is space that I have immensely enjoyed.”

With the young hooked on to the web 24X7, probably this is where neo-viewership lies. “The biggest names in the industry like Kabir Khan are entering this domain and that is a huge thing.”

Reel vs real

Reality shows have ruled the roost too for long, how real are they? “As real as they can get! As much as Ministry of Information and Broadcasting allows, the content makes it to the viewers,” says the actor who was part of Khatron Ke Khiladi and Emotional Atyachar.

Adventure and travel, apart from acting, makes it to Angad’s to-do list. It’s the outdoor workouts that he fancies; kickboxing is what he is into these days and in Greece he took his last vacation.

As for his idols, Amitabh Bachchan is on the top. “He is someone I grew up admiring; I cannot thank Shoojit Sircar enough for giving me a chance to act in a film with him.”

Pollywood calling

Angad is a big fan of Diljit Dosanjh too. “To make it this far in Bollywood being a turbaned Sikh speaks volumes about his talent,” he says about Diljit.

In fact, Angad is also eyeing Pollywood if an interesting project by the likes of Anurag Singh comes his way.

Chandigarh remains for him his dost Yuvraj Singh’s home. “Now even Yuvraj is also staying much in Mumbai, which is great.” And has his dost remained in touch post his marriage? “Even more now”!
