‘Amitabh’s movies are an inspiration’
What are the prominent shows you have done so far?
I did Miley Jab Hum Tum, Raam Milaayi Jodi and after that I took a break from television as I wanted to do other things like films and web series. Now, I am back with Tumse Naa Ho Payega Guddan. To our luck, it is a hit show. We were number one on the 8 pm slot for a long time.
What is so special about your role in Guddan?
A lot of young actors were apprehensive of playing the role of a father to three sons and bahus. Even I didn’t know about this. But, once I got to know the whole story, I was inspired to play the character of Akshat Jindal. He is someone who every man aspires to become; a perfect father, guardian, husband and someone who is very protective about his family.
What inspired you to take up this role?
It was something that I think was extremely difficult to pull off. So, I told myself, if you pull it off, imagine the kind of response you would get. Before going for the audition, I took inspiration from Amitabh Bachchan’s films, the angry young man style, baritone voice, dialogue delivery with a lot of weight and pauses.
How much do you related to your character?
I would like to have certain qualities that AJ(Akshat Jindal) has. As the character required, I have changed my hairstyle a couple of times. In real life too, I believe that nobody has the same hairstyle all the time.
The show has almost completed a year. How has been the feedback?
Since the show went on air in September, it has been doing really good and that’s the reason we have such amazing TRPs and great fan following. The role has got me immense respect as an actor in the industry and I am really thankful for that.
What change did you find in the industry from the time of Miley Jab Hum Tum?
One major change is that social media was in a budding phase when I started my career, but now, if you are an actor you have to be on social media to interact with your fans.
