Traffic jam on national highway

A heavy traffic jam was witnessed ahead of Udhampur city on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway today.
Long queues of vehicles were witnessed on both sides of the highway, causing inconvenience to commuters.
As per a report, an Army convoy was travelling on the highway this morning. When the convoy reached Passi Morh, about 10 km ahead of Udhampur, one of the vehicles developed a snag, resulting in a heavy traffic jam.
Army personnel were trying to rectify the snag in the vehicle till the reports last came in.
“I started around 6 am from home for Batote so that my sister could tie me a rakhi but due to a heavy traffic jam on the highway, I am stranded,” said Rohan Kalotra. “It seems it will take the whole day to remove the snag in the vehicle,” he said.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Traffic, Dinesh Gupta said: “We are trying our level best to restore traffic on the highway.” Torrential rain is creating problem in restoring the traffic on the highway, he DSPsaid.
