Zonal youth fest concludes on high note

The four-day Zonal Youth Festival of C-Zone Guru Nanak Dev University concluded at DAV College, here on Saturday.

APJ College, Jalandhar, bagged the Overall trophy in A-Division, whereas Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar, came runner-up and DAV College, Jalandhar, bagged the second runner-up trophy. Mata Gujri Khalsa College lifted the winning trophy in B-Division, followed by BD Arya Girls College, Jalandhar Cant, at second place and Trinity College, Jalandhar, and MGSM Janta College, Jalandhar, at the third spot.

On the last day of the festival, students competed in ‘gidha’ and western solo and western group song events. Meanwhile, amid the announcement of western solo song competition, the teachers of participating colleges raised hue and cry and showed their disagreement with results. The participants also accused judge of tempering with wining scores. Disagreements also fumed among judges over positions given to participants, which were later sorted out by considering marks given in majority. The prize ceremony ended with principal SK Arora appreciating the organising team comprising Dean EMA JR Garg and Manish Khanna for successfully organising the festival.
