School bus overturns, eight students among 12 injured

Hoshiarpur, February 23

A school bus overturned and rested on its right while taking a turn at the cross road outside the indoor stadium at around 4 pm in the evening. The bus was of Little Flower School located at the Una Road. It was en-route to dropping the school children. Two teachers, driver, conductor and 8 students were injured in the accident while several others sustained minor injuries.

A loud noise was heard at the spot after which the people around ran to rescue the children.

Around 30 children were there in the bus. Members of NGOs including the Red Cross volunteers reached there and extended help to the injured. According to doctors, all the injured were out of danger. The injured driver, conductor and a student were currently under special observation of the doctors owing to their serious injuries. The injured include, driver Manpreet Singh, conductor Pawan Kumar, Rajesh Sharma wife of Ghanshyam, a resident of Pahadi Katra and Manjeet Kaur, a resident of Ramesh Nagar. Those among the injured students are Sanya, Chand, Manpreet, Kamya, Avneet, Amneet, Priya and Sneha.

The team of District Red Cross Society immediately reached the spot and helped the injured and brought them to hospital. The President of Sri Rashtriya Rajput Karani Sena Laxmi Thakur and also reached with their teams to help injured. MLA Sunder Sham Arora, SDM Jatinder Jorwal, DSP Sukhwinder Singh, PS city in-charge Jagdish Atri reached there.

MLA Arora took account of the accident and assured of every possible help. District Red Cross team would be providing every help to the wounded.
