Sainis seek exclusion from BC list

A meeting of the Saini Society of Punjab, led by state president Kulwant Singh Saini, was held here today. Representatives of Saini community unanimously passed a resolution demanding restoration of the previous status of Saini community by exclusion of the Saini community from the BC list.
They urged the Chief Minister to withdraw the notification dated September 12, 2016 by which the Saini community was added to the BC list. Members of the Saini community stated that they were against the reservation on caste basis.
Kulwant Saini said reservation should only be accorded to economically weaker sections of the socirty. They opposed the inclusion of their community in the Backward Class (BC) and demanded the immediate withdrawal of the notification issued in this regard.
They said the decision was forcibly imposed upon them.
The opinion of the community was also discussed for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections and the strategy to be adopted for the coming days, support and other related matters were discussed in detail.
The Chief Minister was urged that keeping in view the rage at the grassroot-level in the Saini community in the state and overseas, the notification of adding Saini Community to BC list be withdrawn immediately Passing another resolution it was unanimously decided to extend support for General Category Front, Punjab, and Rajput sabhas on the similar issues.
