Rural police told to increase night patrolling

Taking a serious note of the two incidents in which two persons were recently murdered in Bhogpur, the IG, Jalandhar Range, Lok Nath Angra, held a meeting with the Jalandhar Rural Police officials today.

During the meeting, the IG instructed the rural police officials to solve these cases as soon as possible. A dera head in Barchui village in Bhogpur was murdered by some unidentified persons on June 25 whose case is yet to be cracked by the Jalandhar Rural Police. Three unidentified persons had attacked dhaba owners on the National Highway near Bhogpur recenty in which an elderly woman was murdered and her granddaughter was brutally injured. Apart from the SSP and SP, Rural Police, SHOs of the police stations were also present on the occasion. They were instructed to enhance night patrolling to minimise crime. Speaking to Jalandhar Tribune, Parminder Singh Bhandal, SP, Jalandhar Rural Police, said, “The IG has also instructed us to get optimum work from the rapid response vehicles. The idea is to decrease the crime rate in the rural areas of the district.—TNS
