A state-of-the-art dialysis centre was opened by Deputy Commissioner KK Yadav at the Punjab Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) here today.
Launched by India’s largest dialysis service provider NephroPlus, the centre will be equipped with world-class facilities and experienced professionals. The centre will offer dialysis treatment at a reasonable rate of just Rs 1,000.
The centre shall thus address the accessibility and affordability issue that has been adversely affecting patients in the region. It will be equipped with new imported machines and will have 10 beds, which can later be extended to 15.
Following the high quality standards, the centre will be monitored by a highly effective remote monitoring system. The unique remote monitoring system controls dialysis units, including the dialysis machines and RO plants, eliminating clinical errors.
Apart from offering quality treatment, the centre will also initiate support group meetings, providing a platform for patients to share their experience, overcome their inhibitions and boosts their confidence in life. Further, NephroPlus also motivates patients to lead a normal life through various initiatives like Aashayein. They had recently conducted India’s first-ever sporting event for dialysis patients- Indian Dialysis Olympiad re-defining the perception about dialysis among patients and care givers.
Speaking about the launch, Vikram Vuppala, founder and CEO, NephroPlus, said, “Today, kidney failure is the third largest killer after malignancy and heart disease. However, due to the lack of quality care and unreasonable costs, it is one of the most neglected ailments. With this center, our focus has been on bringing world-class care to Jalandhar at the currently prevailing government-approved prices.”
Principal, PIMS, Dr Kulbir Kaur, said the centre, apart from providing regular dialysis, will offer innovative dialysis modalities like Nocturnal Dialysis (dialysis done at night), short daily dialysis (two hours every day as opposed to four hours thrice a week) and home dialysis.
