Reacting to the speech of Congress MLA from the Jalandhar Cantonment Pargat Singh against his party’s own Mayor Jagdish Raja, former BJP Mayor Sunil Jyoti said today that he found it rather hilarious.
Jyoti, in a statement issued here today, said: “Congress councillor Rohan Sehgal and his guru Pargat Singh blame MP Santokh Chaudhary for supporting Mayor Jagdish Raja despite his failure to deliver basic amenities to residents of Jalandhar, especially the solid waste management. But he forgot to mention the name of the maha guru — Local Bodies Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu. Sidhu is busy in his non-stop blah-blah around the nation and is not bothered about the ruined state of his Local Bodies Department since the past two years.”
“I will like to draw the attention of Cantt MLA who deserted the SAD and the BJP government blaming the system despite the fact that works worth over Rs125 crore were done during the 2012-2017 tenure, including the four-lane bypass from the McDonalds, NH1, to Jamsher and now, again he is repeating the same story. He is doing this despite being a part of the system for the past three decades as a police official, director, sports and MLA (two times),” Jyoti said.
The former Mayor has questioned Pargat: “How much change in the system has he tried to make or made all this time? He has always sacrificed public interest for his personal interest. Today, he talks about solid waste management but he should remember he is the man who ruined the solid waste management project of the Jalandhar MC for his political interest. He does not want 100 MLD STP at Pholariwal under the AMRUT scheme, for which funds are available since 2016. He does not want a biogas plant to be established in Jamsher Dairy Complex, which will produce 1-MW electricity from cow dung which will relieve people of the area from filth and foul smell. Tender for the project has already been received for the past four years.”
Jyoti has fired more salvos against the MLA while saying: “The most economical LED project was torpedoed on his behest by his chela Rohan Sehgal on the pretext that there is a fraud of Rs 100 crore but till now, they could not unearth a fraud of a single penny. He and his colleague MLAs are ignorant and least interested in the fact that 10 to 12 chasis of jeeps are waiting for fabrication and are rotting in the MCJ workshop since 2016 which could have removed about 100 tons of garbage daily. It is sad to say that everyone, including the Congress MLA, MP and Mayor, are sailing in the same boat which is leading the city towards becoming a non-livable place.”
