The Punjab Urban Development Authority (PUDA) demolished three illegal colonies in Chabbewal and Bajwara village today.
The department also installed the notice boards declaring the colonies illegal to ensure that gullible people may not be duped. The officials demolished two colonies in Chabbewal and one at Bajwara village.
Jagvir Singh, SDO, PUDA, said the notices were served on the colony owners by the department and they were asked to present the papers related to approvals. Even after serving on the notices, the developers failed to respond, he said.
The SDO said the colonisers did not apply under to legalise their illegal colonies. As a result, the department razed the constructions in the colonies. Display boards have been set up to inform the public so that no one could buy or sell the plots in these colonies, he said.
