Plum job not enough, he lives his passion

Having left a well-paid job to pursue his passion for organic farming, 29-year-old Anurag Arora has set an example for many.

He pumped all his savings into the start-up he named as MINK Organics, based at Kewal Vihar here. Anurag aims to empower Punjab through healthy food and education in organic farming.

It was four years ago when Anurag left his job as HR head at Trident Group, Batala. During his job, he witnessed the drug menace first-hand in the Malwa belt. That’s exactly when he felt that something was missing in his life and he wasn’t contributing towards his motherland.

He then decided to quit his job and started Mink Organics to help people around and improve their health.

Anurag said at MINK Organics, from micro-greens to oyster mushrooms, organic sprouts, organic vegetables and even whole wheat flour was available.

“The organic products are grown in vermi-compost and soil-less medium comprising various natural components. My team also engages in food-processing, offering products, such as wheatgrass juice, sun-dried mushrooms and tomatoes that help cure a lot of diseases, allergies and provide energy to the body.”

Talking about his journey, Anurag said he was selected as captain in the Indian Army and was also selected as Assistant Commandant in the Indian Coast Guard in 2012, but due to medical issues he was given permanent rejection and he then decided to pursue MBA in human resource.

He added that using his technical knowhow and knowledge in farming, he first started it in small pots and within a short span, people started showing interest in his produce and thus, he succeeded being an entrepreneur.

He now not only offers larger variety of organic produce but also garden consultancy services with the aim to educate people of all ages about farming.

Divulging more details about MINK, Anurag said, “India has two verticals: one focuses on clean food and good health and the other helps create employment opportunities. With this start-up I am contributing towards both as at present a team of seven youngsters is associated with me to provide healthy food to people.”
