Forest Department officials give saplings to residents

To maximise the participation of people in plantation drive to mark the 550th Parkash Purab of Guru Nanak Dev, the Forest Department initiated a plantation drive at Urban Estate Phase II locality, with the help of an NGO, Bhai Ghaniya Ji Sewa Society, here today.

Divisional Forest Officer, Rajesh Gulati and Forest Range Officer, Davinder Pal Singh, along with the office-bearers of the society planted the saplings.

They also distributed saplings among people. During the drive, saplings of ‘Neem’ and ‘Triveni’ were planted in Urban Estate, Phase II locality.

Interacting with the people, both the officers said: “There is no shortage of saplings in the district. Any NGO or individual can approach the department to get the saplings free of cost, adding that the department is committed to enhance the green cover in the district to make it clean, green and pollution free.
