Farewell party held

Students, along with the management and staff, of Innocent Hearts School, Green Model Town, organised a farewell party, “Hasta La Vista 2016-17”, for Class XII students. All members of the board of directors of the school also attended the party. The party was begun with a welcome song. Students of Class XI entertained the gathering with their dance performances and melodious songs. The students of Class XII participated in modeling. Jatin Arora was adjudged Mr Innocent while Best Costumes prize went to Rohan Dhawan, Handsome Hunk prize was given to Hitesh, Best Hairstyle award was given to Arjun and Rohan Tuli was declared Pleasing Personality. Tanvi Arora was selected Miss Innocent Hearts while Swati was adjudged the most Pleasing Personality. Hitesha got the Best Costume award and the Best Appearance price went to Kanishka. Eshita got the Best Hair Style prize. Professor Mago gave blessings to the students. The party concluded in the presence of the secretary of Bowry Memorial Educational and Medical Trust Dr Anup Bowry, Principal of Hotel Management Deepak Paul and others.

Hockey championship

Lyallpur Khalsa College won a hockey championship of Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), Amritsar, by defeating DAV College Jalandhar 3-1 in the final. College principal Gurpinder Singh Samra congratulated the victorious students along with coach Olympian Gundeep Kumar. The College recently won the Sardar Teja Singh Samundari Overall General Championship Sports Trophy of the GNDU for the record 21st time. Balbir Kaur, president, Governing Council, and staff members of the Physical Education Department congratulated the team.

Republic Day

The Department of Political Science of the PCM SD College for Women, Jalandhar, celebrated Republic Day with zest and zeal. On the occasion, students sung patriotic songs and paid homage to our freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the independence of the country. The college premises echoed with patriotic slogans. College principal Kiran Arora addressed the students and highlighted the importance of Republic Day.

Educational trip 

The Department of Punjabi of the Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar, organised an educational trip for students to Amritsar. The main objective of the trip was to make the students aware of the rich culture of Punjab. As many as 45 students went to the holy city. During their trip, after the Golden Temple, the students visited the Jalianwala Bagh. They also visited several historical places in Amritsar. Sandeep Singh, Lovepeet Kaur and Anuradha, faculty members, enlightened the students about the rich folklore of Punjab. Principal Sucharita said the trip was an appropriate platform for the student to know about the culture. She said the college strongly believes in inculcating value education in the students. —TNS
