Economic issues discussed at National Youth Parliament

15th National Youth Parliament (group level) was organised at DAV College, here on Sunday. Students portraying as parliamentary dignitaries discussed the issues of ‘Price rise,’ especially the increasing prices of petrol and diesel, devaluation of Indian rupee as well as issues of flood in certain parts of the country, especially in Kerala.
The national-level event sponsored by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Government of India under the Scheme of the National Youth Parliament Competition in Universities/Colleges throughout the country was conducted by the Department of Political Science.
The principal, while highlighting the importance of the Youth Parliament said the aim was to strengthen the roots of democracy and inculcate healthy habits of discipline, tolerance of the views of others and to enable the student community to understand the working of our Parliamentary institutions. Notably, DAV College Jalandhar is the only college which has won the competition thrice.
