There is a considerable fanbase in the city too. Many lounges and cafes in Jalandhar like The Throwback Story, Underdoggs and some pubs are streaming live football matches. Enthusiastic football fans come in great numbers to enjoy these matches together.

The Throwback Story, a lounge, has kept a FIFA theme -based decor. Such an ambience attracts the football fans. The place also releases proper schedules of streaming live matches on its social media page.

A terrace lounge-cum-pub is celebrating its ‘football month’ and brimming its customers with offers during the time the match is being streamed live.

Underdoggs Brewery and Kitchen gives offers to its customers, “If you simply predict today’s winning teams, you get a free-of-cost alcoholic beverage.”

Rachit, a frequent visitor to these places shares his experience, “It is a lot fun when you sit with your group of friends and watch football live. Also, when you are treated with one-on-one offers in the ‘happy hours football match’, the excitement doubles up.”

Abhishek who is an ardent fan of football says, “I am a big fan of the sport and going to cafes and watching it with a number of people is actually better than watching it at home sitting alone.”

Every four years, like any other country which has a ‘crazy for football’ population, Indians actively watch the FIFA World Cup too, but the participation in the sport is still less.

As the owner of Syndicate Sports mentions,” The sale of footballs and related equipments is not affected by the World Cup. It is a routine sale. People love to watch the sport more than they actually play it.”
