DC flags off ‘Kanya Bachao Rally’

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Tayyab flagged off the ‘Kanya Bachao Rally’ from Guru Nanak Stadium here on Thursday.
Assistant Commissioner (G) Major (Dr) Sumit Mudh and District Programme Officer Sukhdeep Kaur Multani led the rally, which concluded at ‘Virsa Vihar’ and covered all the important areas of the city.
As many as 600 girls, riding on jeeps, motorcycles, scooters and bicycles, participated in the rally. The participants raised slogans like ‘save the girl child’ and displayed placards.
The DC said, “This is a part of various activities planned in the district to carry forward the message of saving and educating the girl child. We want to spread message that save the girl child only then our society will remain sustainable, as the women are the centre of creation.”
He stressed on the need to carry out more campaigns like the ‘Kanya Bachao Rally’ to improve the child sex ratio. He said the child sex ratio in Kapurthala had now started showing improvement.
“Women are already on the forefront and have started taking the lead on all spheres,” he added.
Principal of Police DAV Public School Dr Rashmi Vij said the ‘Kanya bachao rally’ would send a message across the state. She said, “It will help bring an attitudinal change in favour of the girl child.”
Sumedha Bharti from ‘Santulan’ said there was no difference between male and female.
ADC (G) Rahul Chaba, ADC (D) Avtar Singh Bhullar, among others, were also present on the occasion.
