800 take part in sports trials

The Punjab Sports Department on Wednesday conducted trials to select players for various sports wings running in the district.

While informing this, District Sports officer Vijay Kumar said around 800 candidates participated in the event. While 116 players appeared in athletics trials, 70 came for Hockey trials.

In Volley ball, over 90 participated and 48 appeared in Boxing trials. While 45 appeared in Handball, 53 appeared in Basketball trials.

In Football, 110 players came for the trials and 13 appeared for Badminton. Table Tennis saw four contenders while Gymnastic had 19 contenders. Around 24 players appeared for swimming test and 70 for national style Kabaddi. Over 32 appeared for Kho –Kho trials.
