South Kashmir Mirwaiz in porn video, sacked
Srinagar: Qazi Yasir Ahmed was on Friday removed as the south Kashmir Mirwaiz after a video went viral showing him in an obscene pose with a girl. Qazi Yasir Ahmed was removed from the president’s post of the Tahqeeqat-e-Islami, a religious group. Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah, patron of the Tahqeeqat-e-Islami, announced the decision. Qazi Yasir is the son of late Qazi Nisar Ahmad, who was killed by gunmen on June 14, 1996, in Dialgam village of Anantnag district. IANS
Katra varsity files for 15 patents
Jammu: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra, has filed for 15 patents with “innovation challenges” attracting more than 200 ideas from students and faculty members. The issue was discussed during the sixth managing council meeting of the Technology Business Incubation Centre chaired by Vice Chancellor Sanjeev Jain. During the meeting, policy matters and issues elated to appraisal, evaluation and progress were discussed. Dr Swarkar Sharma, chief executive officer, and Swati Sharma, manager, SMVDU-TBIC, presented the report card and highlighted successfully organised events, including innovation challenges. TNS
