Salal power station creates new record in power generation

The Salal Hydroelectric Power Station has achieved the target of highest-ever monthly generation since the commissioning of the project. It generated 519.8 mega units (MUs) of power during July 2018.
With this, the station has surpassed its earlier record of 501.6 MU of power generated in August 2003. Himanshu Shekhar, general manager, Salal power station, said it was the dedication of the employees that yielded the desired results. He said each and every employee of the power station had contributed directly or indirectly by performing the tasks assigned to them.
Himanshu, however, made a special mention of the power house and dam teams for their outstanding contribution to the achievement.
The Salal power station is a run-of-the-river power project on the Chenab in Reasi district of Jammu division, with an installed capacity of 690 MW to harnesses the hydropower potential of the river.
The states benefitting from this power station are J&K, Chandigarh, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh.
