As Ganesh Chaturthi concludes this year, we must continue our efforts for the use of eco-friendly Lord Ganesha idols. We must use idols made of clay. This is only way to ensure that our water bodies and rivers remain clean. People need to realise that no synthetic colour or material harmful to nature should be used and immersed in water bodies during religious rituals. — Amiya Vishvakarma

Garbage dump

The garbage dump on the Pir Mitha road is a stinking mass of solid waste and other material which is leading to health issues among residents. For years, residents have complained and demanded that it should be closed down, but no one bothers. The waste collected from various residential areas of the city is disposed of there before the JMC vehicles visit and lift it. Open dumping is leading to problems for citizens. — Rakesh Jain
