Need to introspect, says Bukhari

Senior Peoples Democratic Party leader Altaf Bukhari has changed the discourse for his party and the adversaries alike by asking his party men to do a deep “introspection” so as to meet the challenges ahead.
Many party leaders were taken by surprise when he showed up and spoke at the 20th foundation day of the party on Saturday.
Bukhari was blunt in his speech when he said “many mouths must be shut by seeing us together”, referring to sharing the stage with PDP president Mehbooba Mufti and other leaders on the foundation day.
This dispelled the impression that he was not in sync with the PDP or was planning something different from that of his party chief Mehbooba Mufti.
Analysts have seen the sharing of stage as a positive and emphatic communication by the former Finance Minister, known for his innovative and high-drive measures and thick connect with people across the state.
This also cleared the picture in the minds of some party leaders who had not expected Bukhari to be a part of the foundation day celebrations.
Bukhari also made a clarion call to the party leaders to introspect and see how the challenges facing the party and the state could be met in tune with the requirement of the time.
The PDP, according to him, is not just a political entity that has demolished the conventional mode of political decorum, but also a necessity for the people of Jammu and Kashmir whose yearning is for peace and resolution.
That Bukhari confined his speech to the party agenda and the call for introspection should also be read, the analysts pointed out, to steer clear of the controversies that can mar the situation.
He is a true adherent to the policies of PDP founder Mufti Mohammad Sayeed who believed in the principles of reconciliation and hearing every one out before taking decisions, analysts said.
