- Despite cold weather conditions, a large number of devotees were seen paying obeisance at the Hazratbal shrine throughout the day. The maximum rush of devotees was witnessed in the afternoon when devotees converged at the shrine to offer Friday prayers and to catch a glimpse of the holy relic of Prophet Muhammad
- Even as Eid-e-Milad celebrations are held across the Valley, the Hazratbal shrine has remained the main centre for holding religious functions related to the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad. ‘Friday following’ is observed as part of the distinct Milad celebrations held in the Valley. - Friday following Eid-e-Milad was also observed at several other mosques and shrines of the Valley. Religious heads threw light on the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad in Friday sermons on the occasion
- Eid-e-Milad celebrations begin from the first day of the Rabiul-Awwal month of the Islamic calendar. Several shrines and market places remain decked up with colourful lights during Milad days.
