CM throws open Maharaja Hari Singh Park

Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today threw open the newly developed Maharaja Hari Singh Park on the Tawi bank in the winter capital. Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh was also present on the occasion.

Spread over 43 kanals, the park has been developed at a cost of Rs 4.72 crore and the main features of the project comprise aesthetically laid walking tracks, swings for children, ornamental sheds, benches, dustbins, open air gym besides beautifully laid flower and rose gardens.

Mehbooba took a keen interest in the maintenance of the park. She directed officials to undertake a plantation drive on the riverfront to enhance the green cover in the area.

She asked the Deputy CM, who also holds the charge of Department of Housing and Urban Development, to identify more areas in the city which could be developed into parks and green spaces for the convenience of people.

The CM also unveiled the statue of Maharaja Hari Singh inside the park. She also inaugurated Coffee House and a refurbished library within the park premises.

Earlier on her arrival at the venue, the CM was received by the Deputy CM who apprised her about various facets of the project.

MoS for Housing and Urban Development Asiea Naqash; Legislators Rajesh Gupta and Charanjit Singh Khalsa; Financial Commissioner, Housing and Urban Development, KB Aggarwal; Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Hemant Sharma; IGP, Jammu zone, SDS Jamwal were present.
