People call me ‘Prince of India’: Rohan Mehra

Actor Rohan Mehra, who was last seen in daily soap Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, is the latest contestant to be evicted from the Bigg Boss house. In an exclusive interview with The Tribune Life+Style, Rohan sheds light on his friendship with Lopa, his Bigg Boss experience, and his girlfriend’s reaction to his closeness with Lopa.

Tell us about your experiencein Bigg Boss...

The journey has been wonderful. I am hearing, many. That itself is a huge win! From being a pampered son, I am now an independent person. I didn’t know how run household errands and Bigg Boss has been a training workshop for me.

You were seen tagging along with Lopa and were even referred to as her ‘puppy’. What do you want to say about that?

In Bigg Boss you make both, friends and enemies. Lopa was the person I connected the most with. Let’s just say that the show is not scripted and rather edited well. Hence, what you saw wasn’t necessarily always the case.

There were rumours that your girlfriend, Kanchi, was upset about you getting close to Lopa. Is that true?

Well, I kept taking her name on national television so it’s nothing like that.

We saw you losing your cool many times, especially when it came to Swami Om. Why so?

It’s human to lose your cool when someone does something so disgusting to you. How would you react if someone threw piss on you or your loved ones?

What would you say on being replaced in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai?

The show must go on. I went on to do Bigg Boss and my journey was almost till the end and hence the makers had to take their call. I wish them all the best.

Was it worth leaving a daily soap for Bigg Boss?

I took a risk and I feel it paid off. Today, people know the real Rohan Mehra and aren’t calling me Naksh.

How was it staying with the common man inside the house?

That was the biggest challenge of this season. We, being celebrities, were worried about the kind of image we are creating on national television. A commoner has no such inhibitions. Hence, being locked up with them was a huge challenge.
