Una, December 17
Deputy Commissioner Vikas Labroo yesterday said as per the instructions of the Election Commission, one polling station would be selected from the list of polling stations in a segment in which the VVPAT slips would be counted candidate-wise and the results cross-matched with the result shown by the EVM machine.
Addressing mediapersons regarding the preparations made by the Election Department for the counting of votes tomorrow, he said the selection of one polling station per Assembly segment for cross matching VVPAT slips with the EVMs would be done randomly and not on the choice of any candidate or political party.
The DC said the administration had made elaborate arrangements for the counting of votes for all five segments in Una district. The counting for the Una, Haroli and Kutlehar segments will be held at Government College Una, while the votes in the Gagret and Chintpurni segments will be counted at Government College, Amb.
Labroo said counting will begin at 8 am and that three security cordons will be set up at both centres. He informed that postal ballots would be counted first, followed by EVMs, adding that 14 counting tables had been setup at each of the five counting stations.
The DC said the results of each round will be announced on the Public Address systems installed outside the counting stations, adding that media centres for authorised media personnel had been set up in the respective offices of the principals of Government College, Una and Amb, where the counting stations had been set up.
