Visually impaired girl to sing in US

Visually impaired Muskan Thakur, a budding singer who was selected as the youth icon by the Election Commission for the state Assembly polls, is all set to display her talent in the US.
A student of MA (music) at the HPU, Muskan is in Boston these days and is set to perform in various cities of the US. She will also seek information regarding new technologies developed in the US for teaching and training of blind children, said Ajai Srivastava, chairman of the Umang Foundation, which is supporting the disabled students, and nodal officer for disability affairs in the HPU.
She has been sponsored by a Bengaluru-based organisation, “Trust for Disabled”. Muskan is accompanied by two other dumb girls from South, who will present dance performances.
Hailing from the remote Chirgaon area in Rohru subdivision of Shimla district, Muskan has always been a meritorious student. She was given a laptop by the government for figuring in merit in the Class XII board examination.
Runner-up of the Voice of Himachal (junior category), Muskan has been the winner of the HPU Youth Festival twice.
She graduated from Rajkiya Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Shimla, and is pursuing higher studies with the help of electronic gadgets. Muskan aspires to be a professor.
