After the Supreme Court order to constitute a temple trust for the management of the Shiv Bari temple near Gagret, Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Kumar here presided over the first meeting of the trustees on the temple premises.
In a communiqué to the media, the DC said the Gagret SDM would be the chairman of the temple trust, while the Ghanari tehsildar would be secretary. The trust panel would comprise 10 more government officers from various departments along with five non-official members.
According to a belief, Shiv Bari is the place where Dronacharya used to teach Pandavas and Kauravas war tactics and use of weapons.
He is believed to have got the Shiv temple constructed here so that his daughter Jayati could worship the deity.
The DC directed the Ghanari tehsildar to prepare details of all assets and liabilities of the shrine before the next meeting of the trust. He said all property owned by the temple, including 687 kanals adjoining it, had been vested with the trust. “Better facilities will be provided to the devotees and the existing infrastructure of the temple will be spruced up in the near future,” he added.
