Cipla workers go on strike at Baddi

Employees of the production and manufacturing units of Cipla went on strike to protest the unjust treatment meted out to them at Malpur village in Baddi today.

They raised slogans against the management and said they would continue the strike until their demands were met. The employees were demanding job security.

They said the employees should not be discriminated on the premises as they were now being targeted and victimised.

They also protested the over 8-hour work schedule which was thrust upon them and said over time should be granted, if working hours extended beyond 8 hours.

If an employee was terminated, he should be given VRS benefits as per government norms. They said their basic pay had not been enhanced for the last three years.

Dr Raju Mistry, global chief people officer, Cipla, in a statement issued here, said, “We conduct performance reviews to ensure that our culture of meritocracy and high standards of performance remain steadfast. Our intention is always to make sure that we have the right talent in place to serve patients.”
