PGI gets land for Una satellite centre
Una, October 8
The Una administration on Monday handed over the possession of 402-kanal land at Malahat village to the PGI, Chandigarh, for its satellite hospital.
The process had been hanging fire for the past one year as the PGI authorities wanted a direct approach road to the land from the Una-Chandigarh highway, which was finally settled recently.
A high-level team from the PGI, comprising head of the microbiology department, Dr Arun Alok Chakravarti, head of the cytology department, Dr RK Sehgal and Dr Vipan Kaushal from the hospital administration department, were in attendance. State BJP president Satpal Singh Satti and Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Prajapati were also present.
Officials from the Revenue Department took the PGI team to the proposed hospital site and gave the demarcation of the land.
Later, records pertaining to the land, which were transferred in the name of the PGI, Chandigarh, were handed over to the team by Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Prajapati in his office.
On June 3, 2017, during his Una visit, Union Heath Minister JP Nadda had announced that a PGI satellite hospital would be set up in the district at a cost of Rs 320 crore and the amount was later revised to Rs 500 crore. — OC
