Louis Tapper of NZ maintains top position

Louis Tapper of New Zealand maintained the overall top position with a score of 2878 at the end of task on the fifth day of India Open 2018 Paragliding Championship being held at Bir Billing. The second position was held by Debu Chaudhary of India with a score of 2,873 while Matt Senior of New Zealand was third, logging 2,805 points. At the fourth position was by Alexander Skvortsov of Russia with 2,751 points.

Among females Russians dominated and were holding top three positions. Verbitskaya of Russia remained at top with a score of 2011, Elena Dmitrievskaya of Russia emerged second with a score of 1,699 and Veronika Blagoveshchenskaya, also of Russia, was third with a score of 1,674. The task for the day was cut to 30.2 kms due to overcast skies. The final task of the tournament would be held in November 3 when Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur is scheduled to preside over the function.

This year 170 paragliders from 20 countries across the world had registered themselves for the Championship, but only top 94 were allowed participation.
