Training camp for NCC cadets
1 HP Girls Battalion, Solan, organised a training camp at Eternal University, Baru Sahib. It was attended by NCC girl cadets from across the state. The cadets participated in various events and competitions. They were trained by Col AS Ghumman. The participants learnt drill, weapon training, map reading, war exercise, yoga and were given tips in social and community welfare. They were also trained to fire .22 caliber rifle. The aim was to prepare the cadets for A, B and C certification of the NCC. Training in leadership skills, discipline, selfless service for the nation and time management etc were other aspects of the camp. Archana Panwar of the GPGC bagged the 'Best Cadet Award' in the senior category while Vanshika of Gurukul International School, Solan, won the award in the junior category.
VC interacts with students
Vice-Chancellor, Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, Dr Parvinder Kaushal held a brief interaction with students. He exhorted them to improve the quality of their research publications and work on writing for top journals. He said these publications would not only help them in their career, but also act as a morale booster in their research work. The Vice-Chancellor said they would make efforts to utilise modern aids in teaching and learning. Dr Kaushal said the university would explore ways to impart more career-oriented education. During the interaction, the students also shared their grievances.
Medical camp at Chapslee School
The Registrar, neurosurgery, Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital, Shimla, Praveen S Bhatia conducted an awareness workshop on the premises of Chapslee School, Shimla. The students were informed about the ill-effects of drug abuse. They were also given information about the POCSO Act. Later, a medical check-up camp was organised. The team of doctors comprised Parul Singhal, assistant professor, department of paediatrics dentistry, Himachal Pradesh Government Dental College and Hospital,
IGMC, Shimla, Sachin Tomar, Anita Thakur and Dolly Singh.
