In its last five-year rule, the BJP-led NDA government has ensured that the benefits of welfare schemes reach the poor and needy sections of society. This was stated by former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal here on Thursday.
Lashing out at the Congress, he said the party’s proposal to remove the AFSPA from the terrorist-affected area had boomeranged on it. He claimed that voters had rejected the Congress for not doing anything in the past.
Dhumal said it was only the BJP that thought of uplifting the standard of women. Several schemes had been initiated for the welfare of women. A health cover of Rs 5 lakh had come as a big relief for the poor.
He said the state government had also launched several schemes. He claimed that Himachal had ushered into a new era of development under Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur.
Dhumal claimed that the BJP would win the LS poll with a thumping majority. On delay in the four-laning of highways. He said detailed project reports were being prepared, and once completed, the work would start.
Dhumal said Anurag Thakur had been successful in bringing major institutions to the constituency. These included AIIMS, medical college and hydro engineering college at Bilaspur.
