Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Sunday said the state had ushered in a new era of development after the launch of 30 new schemes by his government. He also congratulated the people of the state on the occasion of the state-level Himachal Day celebrations held on The Ridge here.

Addressing a gathering, he said the government would continue to strive for the speedy and all-round development of the state and implement all announcements made in the budget.

The Chief Minister said the new schemes, including the Mukhya Mantri Aashirwad Yojana and the Prakritik Kheti Khushal Kisan, would prove to be beneficial in due course of time.

Earlier, the CM unfurled the national flag and took the salute at a march past by contingents of the police, Home Guards, NCC, NSS and Scouts and Guides. It was led by DSP Amit Thakur. He also expressed grief over the Nurpur school bus mishap in which 28 persons, including 24 schoolchildren, were killed. The Chief Minister assured that the state government would take all necessary measures to ensure that there was no recurrence of such incidents in the future.

Thakur said schools would be opened under the Adarsh Vidyalaya Yojana in each Assembly constituency and all these institutions would have hostel facility. As many as 262 posts of medical officer had been filled while the process to fill 2,000 posts of paramedical staff was in process, he added. Thakur said a kit worth Rs 1,500 was being provided to all newborn babies in hospitals to promote institutional deliveries. An assistance of Rs 700 was also being given to mothers under the Mukhya Mantri Aashirwad Yojana.

The CM said the safety and security of women, better law and order and crackdown against forest, mining, and drug mafias were the top most priorities of his government. He said a provision of Rs 100 crore had been made for tarring and maintenance of roads and detailed project reports of 123 roads had been completed. Education Minister Suresh Bhardwaj, Mayor Kusum Sadret, Chief Secretary Vineet Chawdhary and DGP SR Mardi were present.
