Member of Parliament Anurag Thakur today faced the wrath of the people at Bhareri village in the district as a delegation led by zila parishad member Ankush Saini raised slogans against the MP. The slogans were “Anurag Thakur go back”, “Star nahin sevak chahiye” (we don’t need a star we need service provider) and “Band karo, logon ko murakh banana band karo” (stop making fool of people).
It is learnt that the MP had to change his route to reach the meeting place following the protest at Bhareri Chowk. There had been an argument between the supporters of Anurag and protestors but due to the presence of the police peace was maintained at the site.
Ankush Saini, who is a zila parishad member from the Dhamrol ward, said the people of the area were fed up of the false promises made by the BJP leaders, including the MP and MLAs who came here only during the time of elections. He said since the Lok Sabha elections were nearing, the leaders had started visiting the area to befool the people again. He said the people of the area had been demanding potable water, channelisation of rivers and maintenance of roads. He said an MP gets over Rs 5 crore for the development every year and an MLA gets Rs 2 crore but the basic facilities in the area are poor. Later, Anurag addressed public meetings at Bhareri, Patta, Mundkhar and Bassi villages.
