Karnal, June 20

A team of CIA-2 today arrested a kanungo posted in Nissing tehsil after a video went viral allegedly showing him accepting money from a person in lieu of division of land. The accused patwari is absconding.

Jashandeep Singh Randhawa, SP, said they had received a video showing the kanungo accepting money from the complainant. A team led by CIA-2 in charge Jaspal Singh Dhillon was constituted to solve the case.

The team arrested kanungo Mukesh while efforts were being made to nab Patwari Pawan, he added.

The duo had demanded a bribe from Jagat Singh, a resident of Gonder village, for division of his land, the SP added.

A case under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against them, he said. — TNS
