Students, staff pay tributes to Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia

Students and staff members of Dyal Singh College and both branches of Dyal Singh Public School paid tributes to Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, great visionary and founder of The Tribune Trust, Dyal Singh College Trust and Dyal Singh Library Trust, on his 119th death anniversary here today.

Dyal Singh College organised a blood donation camp, in which 83 students donated blood. Ashutosh Nidhi, Assistant Commissioner, PF regional office, Karnal; Prof BR Gulati, GM, Dyal Singh College Trust Society; Dr KL Gosain, Principal; Sushil Goel, college incharge, Red Cross; and others paid floral tributes to Majithia.

The chief guest and others planted saplings on the premises of the college. Professor Gulati addressed the students on the life of Majithia.

Dyal Singh Public School, Sector 7 branch, organised a ‘yajna’ on the school premises. Nina Singh, Principal; Shalini Narang, Headmistress; other staff members and students paid floral tributes to the great visionary. The Principal encouraged students to follow in the footsteps of the great social reformer, philanthropist and pioneer of modern education.

Dyal Singh Public School, main branch, Dyal Singh Colony, also paid tributes. Principal Ramesh Lather said Majithia’s personality was unique. Lather said Majithia had always participated in social, cultural, religious and educational activities and offered his entire property for social welfare.

The Principal said saplings planted by him had become trees, through which thousands had been getting education and jobs.

An inter-school bhajan competition was organised. Parth Public School, Gharaunda, secured the first position, SD Model Senior Secondary School was placed second and SBS Public School stood third.
