‘Smart’ Karnal: In first meet, SPVgives approval to panel

The first meeting of the board of directors of the special purpose vehicle (SPV) of Karnal Smart City Limited (KSCL) was held in Panchkula yesterday.

Several key decisions were taken, including giving their consent to the notifications done by the state government of the formation of inter-departmental coordination committee for the smooth implementation of the smart city project, during the meeting. Besides, the directors have also given their nod to the smart city advisory form.

They also reviewed the planning for the project and the KSCL has written to the Union government for releasing its share of Rs 200 crore for the project. Authorities are hopeful that they will get the funds by this month.

“The state government has constituted inter-departmental co-ordination committee for better implementation of the project. Divisional Commissioner Karnal is the head of the committe,” said Priyanka Soni, Commissioner KMC and CEO Special Purpose Vehicle.

“We have also written to the Ministry of Urban Development to release the Central government share for the smart city project, which is Rs 200 crore. We are hopeful that this amount would be released in this month,” the CEO SPV asserted.

“We have already started work for the beautification of city as several key projects are underway. Six buses have arrived for city bus service, which would be started by January 26,” she added.
