Industrialists of the old industrial area in the city have complained of poor sanitation, choked sewers, broken roads and non-functional streetlights. There are nearly 300 industries in the area.
Vinod Dhamija, an exporter, said industrialists pay taxes to the state government, but they were still deprived of the basic amenities. The condition of internal roads was very bad and potholes make transportation difficult, he added.
Industrialists Ajay Malik and Nitin Jindal said roads in the area were in a deplorable condition. Streetlights seldom function and the area was not safe at night.
Vinod Grover, president, Old Industrial Area Manufacturers’ Association, said, the association had brought the matter to the notice of Industries Minister Vipul Goel who had announced Rs 31 crore for improving infrastructure, including streetlights, sewerage system and roads, in the area on July 28 last year, but the money was yet to be released.
Vinod Katyal, Estate Manager, HSIIDC, said a detailed project report of Rs 31 crore for improving infrastructure in the old industrial area had been sent to the state government in September last year. “We are hoping that the project report would be approved soon,” he added.
