Electoral list out, 50% voters below 40 years

Nearly half of the electorate registered for the upcoming state Assembly elections is below 40 years while the highest number of voters (44.75 lakh and 24.45% of the total) is in the age group of 30-39 years.
Young voters are also going to play an important role in the October elections as nearly every fourth voter in the electoral rolls is below 30 years.
As per the revised electoral rolls till August 27, there are 1.82 crore voters in the state, with 97.30 lakh men, 84.60 lakh women and 239 of the third gender. There are 3.64 lakh voters in the age group of 18-19 years and 40.28 lakh voters in the age group of 20-29 years. In total, there are 43.92 lakh voters below 30 years, making them 24% of the electorate. The third highest number of voters (35.60 lakh) is in the age group 40-49 years.
For the Lok Sabha poll in May, there were around 1.80 crore voters with 3 lakh voters in the age group of 18-19 years, 40.28 lakh in the age group of 20-29 years and 44.38 lakh in 30-39 age bracket.
From July 15 to August 27, 2.69 lakh names were added and 47,488 names were removed.
The number of voters starts decreasing in the 50-plus category. In the age group of 50-59 years, there are 27.86 lakh voters while the 60-69 age group has 17.35 lakh voters.
The age group of 70-79years has 8.22 lakh voters, while 4.19 lakh voters are aged above 80 years.
Enrolment still on
- Joint Chief Electoral Officer Inderjeet has said the voter enrolment is still on and will continue till 10 days are left for the filing of nominations.
- If any eligible voter (18 years or above as on January 1, 2019) has not yet made their voter cards, they can still get it made. They can fill form 6, available at ceoharyana.nic.in. The online enrolment can be done at nsvp.in. The helpline number is 1950.
