Joseph Emmanuel, Regional Officer, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Panchkula, today admitted that the incidents that occurred at Ryan International School, Gurugram, and The Millennium School, Panipat, were an eye-opener for school managements.
Following these incidents, the CBSE issued guidelines on safety of students at schools while the state government directed the school managements to ensure proper safety measures. “However, it is the duty of each school management to prepare a checklist to ensure foolproof security parameters on the premises of their institutions,” he said, while interacting with mediapersons at OPS Vidya Mandir, Sector 13.
Emmanuel was here to chair a conference of principals of CBSE schools organised by Sahodaya School Complex (SSC), Karnal, and the Karnal Independent School Association (KISA).
In his address, he spoke about the security guidelines issued by the CBSE on September 12 and directed school principals to implement the specified security parameters. He exhorted them to inform the higher authorities if some school does not follow the notifications of the CBSE and the state government. Action would be initiated if anybody was found guilty, he said.
Emmanuel also directed them to make students aware of the ill-effects of the blue whale game and use their talent, energy for creative purposes. “We have also discussed the sports meet and evaluation system in detail,” he said.
About the rumours of advancing examinations of board classes to February, he said the exams would be held in March as per the schedule.
SSC president Rajan Lamba, KISA president RS Virk, OPS Vidya Mandir chairman Avinash Bansal and other office-bearers of the SSC and KISA were present.
