Karnal, March 26
Aditya Dahiya, Deputy Commissioner, has fixed April 10 as the new deadline for the beautification of Karan Park, as earlier deadline of March 15 could not be met.
Besides, he has even warned the authorities concerned of action if the project is not completed by the deadline this time.
Karan Park, which was lying abandoned, is being beautified at a cost of Rs3 crore. According to the authorities, musical fountains and an open-air theatre will be the main attractions of the park. LED lights are being installed in the park that is situated in the heart of the city.
It is a multi-department work, so the district administration had fixed a deadline of March 15, but around 80 per cent of the work had been completed so far. “I visited the park two days ago and found the project running behind the schedule. I have directed the officials concerned to complete the work by April 10 or face action for the delay,” said Dahiya.
“As the park is situated near the bus stand, people visit it frequently, hindering the construction work. The work on the track and the welcome gate are running behind the schedule. The officials concerned have been directed to complete it within 15 days,” he added.
The Chief Minister would soon dedicate the park to people, he said.
