Fuel price hike a scam: Dealers

Karnal, May 29
Consortium of Indian Petroleum Dealers (CIPD) president Shamsher Singh Gogi has said daily price revision of fuel is an organised scam.
“The Supreme Court should take suo motu cognisance and launch an inquiry so that the scam can be unearthed and people can get fuel at cheaper rates,” he told the media here on Tuesday.
The prices of crude oil were falling by the day, but the common man did not any benefit, Gogi said. “The Centre has not reduced the prices and private players have been benefiting.”
The CIPD chief further said state governments should reduce excise duty on fuel.
Gogi, who is also a senior Congress leader, said the previous Congress-led UPA government had controlled the price rise of fuel, but the BJP-led NDA government had failed to keep a check on it.
He also hit out at the Haryana Government for neglecting the common people. “I will hold a ‘Haryana Bachao’ rally in Assandh block on June 2. Rajya Sabha member Kumari Selja will be part of it,” Gogi added.
