Hundreds of artists from across the country divided into 150 teams took part in ‘Kalasangam’, a painting competition, here today.

The event was organised by the MC on the eve of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary and third anniversary of Swachh Bharat Mission.

Around 1,600 square yards were allotted to the artists at the ITI Chowk flyover. The event gave a platform to artists to showcase their talent.

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar inaugurated the competition. He interacted with artists and encouraged them to participate in such events in the future. He urged people to maintain cleanliness.

Priyanka Soni, Municipal Commissioner, said their first attempt witnessed interest of artists from across the country. They would organise more competitions for the beautification of flyovers soon, she said.

The first prize was won by Urmila, Sunil, Milan, Rahul and Suraj from Delhi. The second prize was given to Sunil, Deepak, Jashandeep Kaur and Robin from Chandigarh. The third prize went to Deepa, Subham and Deepak from Delhi.
