Chandigarh: INLD supremo Om Prakash Chautala on Tuesday accepted the resignation of Ashok Arora from the post of state party president. Arora said Chautala had called him two days ago and had requested him to continue. “But I remained firm,” he said. When asked about his future plans, he said he would continue as an ordinary worker of the party. TNS

Labourer pushed off fifth floor, dies 

Gurugram: A 50-year-old labourer was pushed off the fifth floor of an under-construction building here on Tuesday as he confronted three men for playing vulgar songs. He died on the spot. The deceased, identified as Veeru, lived with his wife, five daughters and a son at the construction site in Sector 47. Veeru and his family were sleeping when three men, identified as Pushpender, Bharat and Mohan, started playing vulgar songs nearby. The trio has been booked. TNS

Man shoots himself dead in Bahadurgarh

Jhajjar: A man committed suicide by shooting himself using his licensed revolver at his house in Bahadurgarh of Jhajjar district on Tuesday. The deceased was identified as Jai Bhagwan, alias Lilu. The police started investigation to ascertain the reason behind his taking the extreme step. Lilu had earlier worked as personal security officer of former Bahadurgarh MLA Nafe Singh Rathi. Lilu was engaged in business of construction material at present. TNS

Three killed in road accident

Hisar: Three members of a family, including a seven-year-old girl, were killed when a truck rammed into a motorcycle near Hizrawan Kalan village of Fatehabad district on Tuesday. The deceased have been identified as 28-year-old Mahender Singh, his 35-year-old sister Bhagwanta Devi and her daughter Parul, all residents of Mochi Chaubara village in Fatehabad. The police have registered a case. TNS

Hike in honorarium 

Chandigarh: The government has decided to increase the honorarium for inquiry officers from Rs 9,750 to Rs 12,000 per inquiry and Rs 1,500 for every additional charged officer in the same inquiry. They will be provided secretarial assistance. In case the officer did not avail assistance from the department, secretarial assistance of Rs 3,000 would be granted to them. TNS
